Schisandra: wild red berries
Commonly known as the 'five-flavoured fruit', our Schisandra berry comes from the Shaanzi province of China and has been widely used in traditional Chinese medicine.
From these schisandra berries we extract a key active ingredient with soothing and anti-redness properties, which can be found in our very sensitive skin range.
Schisandra
Schisandra is a twining shrub found in the temperate forests of central China. It grows wild (without the use of pesticides or fertilisers).
Resembling a gooseberry, it thrives in the temperate forests of south-west China, an ecological region renowned for its beauty and rich biodiversity. We are helping to preserve this region, nicknamed ‘The home of the giant pandas’, a veritable natural refuge for this endangered species.
Local impact
Schisandra berries are traditionally picked by hand by local people from the surrounding villages, creating sustainable employment for several hundred people. The collection process therefore has no negative impact on the environment. The dried berries are crushed and extracted by enzymatic hydrolysis. Drying takes place in China, where the berries are picked.
Extraction takes place in France.
