- For the first few months, hold your baby by putting one hand under his neck and shoulders and the other under his bottom. This will make him feel safe and secure. From four or five months, you can use a bath seat if you like.
- If you find it difficult to wash your newborn in water while holding him, wash him with a cleanser on the changing table and then rinse him in water.
- As your baby learns to sit up, you can let him go in the water. But never leave your baby alone in the bath, no matter how old he is, even if it's just for a few seconds and there's only a small amount of water.
Before the bath
During the bath
- Use gentle, soap-free cleansers specially formulated for your baby's delicate skin. Our Gentle Cleansing Gel gently and effectively cleanses baby's hair and body. It also soothes and moisturises the skin for the drying effects of bathing.
- Every two or three days, wash your baby's hair and scalp with an appropriate shampoo that won't sting his eyes. If he has cradle cap, choose a special baby shampoo to help get rid of it. To wash his hair, use a glass, his toy watering can, the shower head or simply the palm of your hand - whatever is most comfortable.
