When I had a blocked duct and a bleb, I read that olive oil can help. I decided to give mustela nursing balm a try as its main ingredient is olive oil. Along with hot compress and massaging it helped unblock the bleb.
As lanolin can block pores and cause blebs, I think this one will be one of my go to nipple creams now.

I recived that product as a part of the prize from Mustela and as I wasn't able to use it ( no breastfeeding) I gifted to my friend who just loved that product. She said it was so easy to use, just a little amount and you could feel the cooling/ healing sensation. For her it was a life ( aka. Nipple) saver

As a first time mum very new to breastfeeding there are so many options for nipple creams on the market I didn't know where to start. This one is super soothing and really helps with the breastfeeding journey. I love that it's made from 100% plant-based ingredients with the key ingredient olive oil!

The balm was easy to apply and certainly helped my nipples. The biggest downfall for me was that the instructions state to remove before breastfeeding. Other balms I’ve tried are fine to stay on. When you have a hungry newborn demanding a feed, you don’t have time to clean it off. Apart from that, I was happy with the product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my nipple dry and cracking?

Dry and cracking nipples can result from several factors, including frequent breastfeeding or pumping, improper latching by the baby, skin conditions like eczema or dermatitis, environmental factors such as cold weather, and the use of harsh soaps or lotions not designed for sensitive skin. These factors can lead to irritation, dryness, and, eventually, cracking of the nipples.

How do you heal cracked nipples?

To heal cracked nipples, it's crucial to ensure the baby has a proper latch, as incorrect latching often leads to nipple damage. Application of lanolin-free cream after each feeding can soothe and protect your nipples, and since it's safe for babies, there's no need to wash it off before breastfeeding. Allowing your nipples to air dry after feeding and applying breast milk can aid in healing due to its natural antibacterial properties. Changing breast pads frequently to keep the area dry is also important. However, if your nipples are severely cracked, bleeding, or show signs of infection, consulting a healthcare provider is recommended.

Does nipple cream affect the baby?

Our Organic Nursing Comfort Balm is made from 100% naturally derived, food-grade ingredients, so you don’t have to worry if your baby comes into contact with it. It’s perfectly safe for you and your little one. It's important to use products specifically for nursing mothers and follow product instructions. If you have concerns about a particular product, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare provider.

Should I start using nipple cream before birth?

Starting nipple cream before birth is generally not necessary unless you're experiencing dryness or discomfort during pregnancy. Applying nipple cream a few weeks before your due date can help moisturise and prepare the skin for breastfeeding. However, the most crucial period for using nipple cream is during the first few weeks of breastfeeding, as this is when nipples are most likely to become sore or cracked from feeding. You can also use stretchmark skin care as another way of taking care of yourself beside maternity nipple cream.
