Your baby’s health record is their personal medical diary, accompanying them to every doctor’s appointment up until they turn five. It’s thoughtfully divided into seven sections, covering every aspect of their health journey:
Your child's health record is intended primarily for healthcare professionals to give them an instant overview of your child's medical history. Keeping all your child's information in one place is valuable as they will probably not always see the same doctor: between the paediatrician, the general practitioner, the dentist and sometimes hospital doctors or various specialists, they will be seen by numerous professionals who will be able to find all the essential information about them.
Always take your child's health record to appointments, regardless of the doctor they’re seeing. Remember, this record is confidential, and apart from the vaccination pages, schools or daycare centres cannot require you to show it.
Beyond its medical utility, your child’s health record is a cherished reminder of their early years. It’s something you’ll want to keep safe and perhaps look through together when your child is a bit older. These moments can be a gentle way to teach them about the importance of health and self-care.
This record will also serve as a handy reference for your child as they grow into adulthood, making it easier for them to manage their own health and medical history. It’s a bridge between their childhood and the responsible adult they’ll become, ensuring they have all the information they need, even when you’re not around to remind them.
Your baby’s health record is more than just a booklet; it’s a story of growth, health, and love. Keep it close, update it regularly, and treasure the memories it holds.
